Rules
Sentinel Writing Group — Rules & Guidelines
"Where Imagination Meets the Final Frontier"
Welcome aboard, Sentinel Station, a beacon of creativity at the edge of Federation space. These rules are in place to ensure that every writer can contribute freely, respectfully, and collaboratively as we build stories worthy of the 29th century.
1. Respect the Crew
Treat all members with respect and courtesy.
Disagreements are natural — hostility is not.
No harassment, discrimination, or personal attacks of any kind.
2. Canon and Creativity
The Sentinel Universe draws from Star Trek canon but expands into the 29th century.
Canon is a foundation, not a cage — feel free to innovate, but keep it believable within Trek’s tone and logic.
If you create new technology, ships, or species, provide a short description so others can integrate it smoothly.
3. Writing Standards
Use the third-person perspective and past or present tense consistently.
Maintain a collaborative storytelling tone — your post should move the story forward and leave space for others.
Check spelling, grammar, and formatting for readability (no need for perfection, just clarity).
4. Character Conduct
Control only your own characters unless permission is given.
Respect others’ storylines, ranks, and arcs.
Major changes (promotions, deaths, departures) should be discussed with group leads first.
5. Command & Structure
The Command Team (Station Admiralty) oversees story arcs, mission directives, and lore consistency.
Writers are free to propose missions, episodes, or personal stories — coordinate with the Command Team for integration.
Chain of Command is in-character, not out-of-character authority.
6. Collaboration & Missions
All members can join open missions, side stories, or create their own
Avoid godmoding (forcing outcomes or making your character unrealistically powerful).
Communicate — the best stories come from shared imagination.
7. Content Rating
Stories are PG-13 (Star Trek standard).
Action, romance, and tension are welcome — explicit sexual or graphic violent content is not.
Fade-to-black when appropriate.
8. Activity & Participation
Try to post regularly if you’re involved in an active story (once every week or two recommended).
If you need a break, just let Command know — life always comes first.
Inactivity without notice for over 60 days may result in reassignment to inactive status.
9. Lore Development
Major lore additions (new factions, tech, or races) should be shared for group consensus before official adoption.
Sentinel’s universe thrives on shared world-building — credit all contributors.
10. Have Fun
Above all, enjoy yourself.
This is a space to create, explore, and tell stories that push the boundaries of imagination.
The Sentinel Station Writing Group exists to celebrate what Star Trek has always stood for: hope, unity, discovery, and the human adventure.
Command Authorization:
